It's important to consider the concept of "safe" during this pandemic and this is a tale about what it's like to live in a remote wine region during the outbreak and how everyone assumes that you're "safe" but the reality is much different no matter what people choose to believe.
And now, this:
Well, you know how it is. You write up a report about the exciting new wines in one of Spain's most dynamic denominations of origin but oops, you include a smattering of wines not in the DO and they're none too happy about that.
This box of three wines was put together by one of the top wineries in this interior DO of Spain. Very excellent examples of Garnacha as well as Cariñena here and while definitely not cheap, absolutely all proceeds from the sales are being donated to located charities working to fight the pandemic.
Working to get bottle samples during quarantine was no fun, but it has finally arrived! Unsurprisingly, no surprises here as DO Montsant continues to see its star shine brightly. This regional report as well as the accompanying Tasting Report outline an excellent selection of wines from this DO--for those who like such things :)
Seems like we can't go two months without some big news coming out of the sparkling wine region of DO Cava. All thing considered for these times, this is actually a very good move as they've stipulated a 17% drop in harvest yields in order to relieve what is believed to be a massive grape glut heading this way.

Yup, it appears 2020 is going to be one of "those" years wherein very wet weather and warm temperatures are making the perfect storm for fungal problems in the vineyards. It is however in somewhat random in its severity as this lengthy report outlines in detail.
