Greetings,

And so we come to the end of another year and this, the last newsletter of the season.

As has become the tradition now, I'm happy to present my Best Catalan Wines of 2021 to you, but as an added treat (and due to travel being slightly easier this year) I'm also doing a Best Spanish Wines of 2021 so I hope you enjoy the pair of them!

I'm also taking an extended look at the grape variety Trepat as well as the new 'Vi de Mas' certification they've created in Penedès--two items I'm very energized by.

There's a pre-tasting analysis of the 2020 wines in DOQ Priorat that I've very exciting about as well as a batch of delicious red wines from Roussillon and then of course some sparkling wine recommendations from Catalunya to see you through your holidays.

If that wasn't enough, I do recommend having a look at my Cul de Cuvée articles (as opposed to the Tête de Cuvée) which are news roundups I started putting together and running on Saturdays this year.

Lastly, if you haven't read it previously (or just need a refresher which I highly recommend), have a look at the brilliant, Definitive Wine Guide for Christmas that Ruth Spivey wrote last year which was and continues to be outstanding.

What will 2022 hold? Who on earth knows at this point, but we can only hope to be on some kind of upward trajectory from here on out?

Take care and be well!

-Miquel
