The British food scene has evolved tremendously in the past 20 years. So many more fine restaurants, more choices of top notch ethnic food, more creativity. But the wine lists can be disappointing, especially if you want something with age on it. I'd be interested to hear the answer to Miquel's question from some Brits: how has the wine scene changed? Is it as much improved as the food?
I'm of the opinion that they've risen in tandem, but someone actually British would be far better at answering that. But I think the world over there's been a shift to younger wines as few want to bother with aging anymore.
