Essentially "balsamics" is herbal or is it a catchall for WSET tertiary aromas you listed? So interesting that it indicates the *act* of aging (turning to balsamic) rather than the *flavor* of aging (Modena). Language!!
There's a lot of confusion. I see when someone says it that no one really knows what it means but it's the pedagogical approach to education here that no as for clarification. But this is why Spaniards do very well on Theory tests but fail on Tasting as they never learn how to apply all the information they've memorized.
